2012 Moto 3 world champion Sandro Cortese is set to race with the Kallio Racing squad in World Supersport aboard a Yamaha R6.
With the first race in Phillip Island quickly approaching, Kallio Racing are ready to begin their 2018 season with Cortese riding alongside the 19 year old Belgian Loris Cresson.
Cortese has already been testing Kallio’s Yamaha YZF-R6 at Jerez and told worldsbk.com that although “it is a very different bike” to the moto 2 GP machine that the German has been used to, Cortese is “really comfortable and happy with the bike” and states “the pace is already there”.
Cortese and Kallio will undergo another two day test in Phillip Island before the race which will be used as to see where they stand “against the others”.
Team Manager Vesa Kallio added that Cortese showed “his professional attitude straight away”, stating he quickly adapted to the YZF-R6 with his pace already looking good.
