Milena Koerner is the team manager of Team Forward Racing, a team that competes in the Moto2 world championship that runs in the MotoGP paddock.
Koerner started her career in racing as a grid girl, something on the side of high school. While studying for exams Koerner was earning an income and travelling the world.
Milena told the Italian press that working as a grid girl, and in hospitality, whilst working alongside Stefano Bendon taught her a lot. She learnt to work with customers and improved public relations.
From there Koerner became a team coordinator in 2009. Working along side Giovanni Cuzari and Andrea Dosoli. Koerner also worked as the press manager for Tech3 in MotoGP for 5 years.
And now for 2018 the hard work has paid off, with Giovanni Cuzari offering Koerner the opportunity to be the Forward Racing Team’s team manager. From contacts gained and potential shown Koerner has now risen to the top, which would not have been possible had she not had the chance to enter the paddock in the first place.
In terms of the current situation with grid girls in Formula 1, Milena expressed her opinion stating it’s not a “sensible decision” and the problem is not in the girls themselves but in the men “who think they are available because they wear a short skirt and heels whilst standing next to a bike”. “Perhaps they are doing it to pay for their studies or to be a part of a world they are passionate about”.
